Rocks ‘n Ramblings:

Rocks ‘n Rambling is an opportunity to talk rocks during the winter. Join us on the first Friday of the month at 4:30 pm at the SEG office at #102 – 3423 Fulton Ave in Smithers (turn off Highway 16 at Smithers Lumber Yard exit. Fulton runs parallel to Hwy 16 one block back.). Occassionally R n R will be held at various members’ offices. Watch for information on any change in location. Either way, bring a rock and/or your thoughts on the incredible geology of northern BC.

Geonights:

Occasional geological presentation evenings are organized during the winter with topics and locations TBA.

Fall Fair Booth:

The Bulkley Valley Fall Fair continues to be an excellent opportunity for the general public to learn about the minerals industry. Almost 600 people dropped by the SEG booth in August 2011 to “Guess the Gold” and chat.

Annual SEG Golf Tournament

The 2011 golf tournament on September 16 brought out 111 golfers to the Smithers Golf Course. It stopped raining long enough for everyone to have a terrific game, with the follow-up dinner attracting 150 guests. Thanks to the 47 sponsors who made this year a great success. Check back in the spring for the date for the 2012 golf tournament.

Roundup

The Smithers Exploration Group booth at Roundup 2012 at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver was the first stop for many people as they stopped to pick up SEG’s annual directory – the most complete listing of suppliers and services for the minerals industry in northern BC. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to visit.

Rock Talk:

Rock Talk 2012 will take place February 22-24 in Smithers. Wednesday February 22 will be the education day; Thursday February 23 will be presentations; and Friday February 24 will be ski day and Acme Core Shack on Hudson Bay Mountain. Please check the Rock Talk webpage for full details.
